About the Project
Funding the Future of Art serves as a Communications Studies Capstone Project for four graduating seniors from Appalachain State University. The Communication Studies Seminar Course invites second-semester seniors to apply the knowledge and skills gained throughout our program toward a meaningful group project, often through planning a substantial event. Funding the Future of Art is the event our group has chosen.
On April 12th, 2026, four graduating seniors from Appalachian State University will be hosting Funding the Future of Art at FizzEd in Boone, NC.
Funding the Future of Art is an art showcase open to Appalachian State University's very own studio art majors as well as artists in the local Watauga County Community. Proceeds from fundraising will be donated to the Watauga Art Council. We've asked the participating artists to submit pieces that demonstrate their unique personally in the pieces they display. The event will be accompanied by live jazz music.
In addition, we have the honor of welcoming Watauga Art Council representatives, Amber and Krista, who will give insight into the vitality of the arts programs in Watauga and how we, as community members, can uplift the arts together.
We’re honored to help organize an event that gives back to the art collective that has supported the high country so deeply, and we sincerely hope you can join us!
